OUR LIBRARY

The Barry's Bay and Area Public Library was established in 1960 and throughout the years has seen much growth, not only in content, but in physical facilities as well. The library, which is located on the Opeongo Line in Barry's Bay has expanded twice since its inception and its resource circulation is around 30 000 annually. The Barry's Bay and Area Public Library has become an integral part of the community's life. It is committed to the growth and overall benefit of its patrons and our community as a whole.

SERVICES

Interlibrary Loan

If you wish to locate a book that is not in our collection you may apply to get it through our Interlibrary Loan Services. To do this, you must fill out a form at the Barry's Bay and Area Public Library.

Books, Videos & Sound Recordings

Just some of the selection at the Barry's Bay & Area LibraryThe Barry's Bay and Area Public Library provides both an adult's section, including young adults and children's section as a part of our circulation. We also carry older VHS videos. Patrons of our library may also take out any of the various sound recordings we have as a part of our collection. Photocopies
Patrons are able to access a photocopier at the Barry's Bay and Area Public Library with a fee of $0.10 for most library materials and $0.25 for most non-library materials.

Faxing
At the Library a fax machine is accessible. The cost is $1.00 to receive a fax and $2.00 to send.

Vertical Newspaper Files
At the Barry's Bay and Area Public Library there is a vertical file and Newspaper Room filled with important events concerning our local community and our history which is available for the public to access. If you wish to use these resources you must contact the Librarian.

Periodical Database
Search periodicals for school or personal interest at the library or on your home computer. Database includes articles from magazines like Macleans, Newsweek, etc., and is available to Library members only - ask at desk for more information.

E-book Database
Read books not usually found in small libraries (eg. Cliff's Notes, medical, etc.) at the library or on your home computer. Over 6000 titles. This service is also available only to Library members.

Oral History Texts
Our Library has provided the community with an accounting of Barry's Bay history with Oral History Texts. To check out just a portion of these Texts click on the links below. Please note that more of these texts are available to the community at the Library.
